So we went to have dinner at the World Famous Denny's Restaurant. Everything was going along nicely. We were seated promptly and had our drinks brought to us in a timely fashion. Then we waited... and waited... and waited... and finally we have our waiter come to us and ask if we are ready to order. We answer "yes" and he tells us that he will go get our waitress for us. Who should come to our table? Why, it is the same waitress we had last time we were there... Cheryl (sounds similar to the beginning of Chernobyl).

A little history... first time we had her, she was extremely slow, and didn't seem to give a damn about doing her job. Although she was rather horrible, I left her a tip of 15% (around $3.75), because I am a Compassionate Conservative. Jessica was pissed that I tipped less than $5.00, because she is a waitress and feels that she should tip 156% of the total. She also has a hard time comprehending that people should be tipped for doing a good job, and not given pity bucks because they hold the same job title.

Cheryl finally takes our order, and Jessica tells me about how we need to tip her better this time so that she will be a better server the next time we come in. I was like... negative. This isn't france nor is it russia. This is a democracy with a capitalist economy. I am not going to be giving away money to someone who doesn't work. My response pissed her off, but hey, she can get over it.

Some time later, our food is brought out to us, by a different member of the wait staff. Everything looks great, so my mood goes up to a happier level. Of course, it cannot stay at that acceptable level, for I have two stereotypical dumb-fuck blondes sitting behind me. Why is this a problem, aren't they normally really hot? Well, true, they are... but they are behind me, and I can only hear them instead of look at them. They decided that it would be a great idea to study for their biology test in a restaurant. So the entire time I am trying to eat, I hear these dumb asses going on and on about bacterial and viral pathogens in food, and ways that they are passed on to other foods and people. I mean, wtf, is a restaurant really the place that you should be yelling this out to each other? To make things worse, they didn't even order any kind of food entrée... they were just sucking down coffee and wasting a table for their waiter.

We then decided that we are finished, and are ready for a box and our check. So we wait. We then wait some more. I look all around the restaurant, and do not see our waitress. I see all the rest of the wait staff taking care of their tables, but I do not see ours. I then look back into the kitchen area, and catch a glimpse of her walking by the entrance... but she still fails to come by. Finally, I hear someone else say "Cheryl, I think table 8 is ready for their check." She then brings us our check and later our boxes.

Overall, we saw our waitress twice... to take our order, and to bring us our check. Our food, napkins, and refills were taken care of by everyone else (other wait staff came by six times total). When I went to pay, I was originally wanting to tip her $0.00, but since I was feeling generous and wanted to call attention to the job she did, I left her $0.22 to round out my total to an even dollar amount. I am going to call the manager and bring attention to the crappy service, as well as let him know that I will be taking my business to the College Station IHOP when in the mood for breakfast type food.

Are my actions and feelings too harsh towards our waitress and the two dumb blondes, or would you have done the same thing, if not worse?
